BriteKids is a 501(c)3 foundation designed to provide life changing technical educational opportunities to middle school kids living in the more rural areas of the Blue Ridge Mountains and foothills.
Charlie Mathis is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Science Applications International, Inc. a $6 billion technology integrator to the US government. A former Marine Corps Officer who grew up in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Mathis has spent over 30 years in tech companies mostly supporting the military and government agencies including the Department of Defense, NASA, Homeland Security, the CIA and other intelligence agencies. He holds a Top Secret clearance from the Department of Defense.
He has a BA cum laude from Wake Forest University and a MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He is a member of the Economic Club of Washington DC and the National Association of Corporate Directors. He lives in Leesburg, Va and enjoys spending time on his farm in Fancy Gap, Va.
Richard Pierce is a former business leader and consultant who also worked at Science Applications International Inc., AT Kearney, and ICF mostly on environmental management issues. Having stepped away from the corporate world over 15 years ago, he has since taught science in some of the more prestigious secondary schools in Northern Virginia. He currently teaches science at Edlin School, a gifted and talented K-8 school in Reston, Va. He has been active in coaching, scouting and volunteering in the Virginia area and enjoys hiking, biking and hunting in the Blue Ridge mountains.
Richard grew up in a military family. He earned his BA from the College of William & Mary and earned two masters degrees from Duke University, a Masters in Environmental Management and a Masters in Business Administration. He lives in Herndon, Va with his wife, Cari Lyn and they have one daughter serving in the Army as an Armor Tank Commander, in Fort Benning, Ga and a son at Roanoke College, Roanoke, Va.
